Features: The book A Collection of Famous Butterfly Stamps from Around the World co-authored by Shou Jianxin and the renowned entomologist Professor Zhou Yao is about to be published and released by Henan Science and Technology Press. This is their third book systematically introducing world butterflies and butterfly stamps after World Butterfly Stamps and Butterflies from China and the World. The book begins with "Butterflies—Symbol of Beauty and Love," explaining the position of butterflies in the animal kingdom, the mysteries of butterflies, and the situation of their close relatives—moths, introducing dozens of world-famous moth species. The book's distinctive feature is to systematically introduce the general overview and representative species of butterflies in each of the six major world zoogeographical regions: Palaearctic, Oriental, Australian, Ethiopian (African), Nearctic, and Neotropic. It provides new classification statistics for China's 1,700-plus butterfly species and nearly 20,000 butterfly species worldwide. The book includes 1,868 butterfly stamps from around the world (including first-day covers, shaped stamps, and self-adhesive stamps), featuring 926 butterfly species. Each butterfly is identified with its scientific name, classification status, and detailed descriptions of its characteristics and distribution. The Chinese names of butterflies that have been recorded in A Catalogue of Chinese Butterflies are aligned accordingly. For foreign butterfly species not listed in A Catalogue of Chinese Butterflies, revisions have been made based on the announcements by the "Committee for the Review of Scientific Names of the Chinese Academy of Sciences." This is currently the most comprehensive book in China introducing foreign butterfly species and their quantities. Additionally, the book includes 103 exquisite domestic and international butterfly postmarks (including early butterfly postmarks). Readers can enhance their interest in philately and gain scientific knowledge about butterflies from this book.
