Author: Lu Xun
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2005-01-01
Features: To date, it has been discovered that Lu Xun wrote 33 novels in his life. Najie () contains 14, Panghuang () 11, and Gushi Xinbian () 8. This publication is released under the title Complete Collection of Lu Xun's Novels, aiming to present a comprehensive view of Lu Xun's fictional works. Najie is Lu Xun's first collection of novels, first published in August 1923 by Beijing Xinchao Press. It reveals the stifling nature of Chinese society and the twisted souls of its people from multiple perspectives, demonstrating Lu Xun's militant stance during the May Fourth Movement. The second collection, Panghuang, was written during the decline of the New Culture Movement and first published in August 1926 by Beijing Beishu Press. Panghuang reflects the author's journey from fervor to calmness, showing more measured observations and deeper reflections compared to Najie. Thus, it provides a clearer view of the awakening and confusion of intellectuals. Gushi Xinbian is Lu Xun's third collection of novels, including works from 1922 to 1935, first published in January 1963 by Shanghai Cultural Life Press. The works reinterpret myths, legends, and historical facts, aiming on one hand to clarify the spirit of history and on the other to portray the "backbone of China." This collection is based on the original editions, while also referencing Complete Collection of Lu Xun's Works compiled by the Lu Xun Memorial Committee in 1938 and published by Shanghai Fushu Press. In terms of text, punctuation, and formatting, the best choices have been adopted. Since modern literature, especially the usage of certain terms before the 1930s, differs from later periods, historical accuracy has been prioritized as much as possible.
