Features: Logic is an important discipline. In the 1974 subject classification compiled by UNESCO, logic is listed alongside mathematics, astronomy and astrophysics, earth science and space science, physics, chemistry, and life science as one of the seven fundamental disciplines. It emerged in ancient China, India, and Greece over two thousand years ago. The international academic community recognizes that world logic has three major streams: Chinese name-dialectics, Indian Nyaya-Vaisheshika, and Western logic. Throughout history, all three have undergone their own processes of emergence and development. This book discusses the evolutionary history of the basic theories and fundamental concepts of the three major traditions of world logic from the perspective of logical thought. Existing works on the history of logic, both domestically and internationally, share a common feature: they narrate the logical theories of logicians and schools of logic in a chronological manner. The advantage of this method is that it gives a sense of history, but its disadvantage is also evident—it often obscures the organic connections between various fundamental theories and concepts in logic. This book does not adopt this method but instead employs the unification of logic and history.
