The 20 literary masterpieces recommended for high school students by the Ministry of Education, jointly recommended by the Chinese Educational Society's Secondary School Chinese Teaching Committee and the National Central City Teaching and Research Office Collaboration Conference, are presented here. This series of books, based on the 30 literary masterpieces recommended for middle school students by the Ministry of Education, draws inspiration from the indispensable reading lists of many renowned figures from ancient and modern times, such as Hu Shih, Lu Xun, Ernest Hemingway, and W. Somerset Maugham. It selects 70 books suitable for middle school students to read. In determining these books, we extensively consulted opinions from experts, scholars, and experienced teachers, carefully deliberating and selecting works of excellence from various fields, including literature, art, history, geography, and more.
