Features: Author Zhang Pinzhen studied at Tongzhou Normal School, Shanghai Foreign Languages Special School, Wuxi National Studies Special School in his early years, demonstrating a profound foundation in traditional Chinese studies. In 1940, he organized the Youth Anti-Japanese Association in his hometown and began engaging in literary work. Under the leadership of the underground Communist Party of China, he worked in various capacities, including youth affairs, publicity, literary editing, and political transportation. From 1950, he successively served as Deputy Director of the Research Department of the Jiangnan Federation of Literature and Arts, Editor-in-Chief of Jiangnan Literature, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Yuhua, and Editor-in-Chief of Jiangsu Literature. He also held positions as Deputy Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Federation of Literature and Arts and Secretary-General of the Jiangsu Branch of the Writers' Association. Starting in 1979, he served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Jiangsu People's Publishing House and Editor-in-Chief of Zhongshan. In 1988, he received the inaugural Literary Journal Editing Honor Award from the Chinese Writers' Association. His editorial works include essays and poems, though relatively few in number, they are outstanding. Essays such as On Gao Xiaosheng and The Rise and Fall of Lu Wenfu in Literature exhibit genuine insight, mature depth, and a unique charm, earning widespread acclaim. In 1997, a collection of essays by the author, Memoirs of Gao Xiaosheng, Lu Wenfu, Li Junmin, Fan Dangshi, and Chen Fangke, was published by the Three Rings Press. This book marked the first time the author's works, accumulated over decades of "making wedding dresses for others," were compiled. It received widespread praise upon publication, was reprinted multiple times, and is part of the Three Rings Press' renowned "Reading Literature" series. Based on the author's rigorous approach, the book includes only forty-one selected works, including over ten poems written by the author at different stages of his life. As the author said, these concise texts condense his decades-long life journey and growth. Articles such as Impressions of Legend, Farewell Qingyun Lane, and Two Topics on Eating Fish are included in various textbooks and anthologies due to their classicism, historical significance, and relevance, offering a glimpse into the author's concise writing style.
