Features: In this book, we will focus on the artistic research of poetry itself, capturing its imagery, artistic conception, and various expressive techniques and successful applications of ancient yellow poetry, conducting a detailed analysis. Based on practicality and realism, we will adopt a multi-angle, multi-faceted critique, avoiding a consistent perspective in each section. The author will repeatedly read, recite, savor, and contemplate the poems under study, striving to gain tangible insights. These insights will then be subjected to theoretical analysis and summarization, which may appear meticulous but will make the discussion more grounded, avoiding preconceived notions and abstract analysis. Every argument will strive to be visible, tangible, clearly explainable, and easily comprehensible in terms of poetic characteristics, rather than being obscure or enigmatic.
Traditional research divides Tang Dynasty poetry into four periods: early, high, middle, and late. This division, while not without its imperfections, reflects the distinct styles and trends of Tang poetry in different periods and reveals the developmental patterns of Tang poetry. It is considered relatively scientific and closer to the actual practice of Tang poetry creation. Although this division has some shortcomings, it remains fundamentally accepted by most scholars before a more scientific classification of Tang poetry emerges. For convenience, we will continue to use this method.
In the final chapter, we will specifically explore the inheritance and influence of Tang Dynasty poets. This is a broad topic with vast research potential and extensive content, including many uncharted territories that cannot be fully addressed by individual efforts or a single book's chapters. This book will only focus on a few key points, aiming to illustrate the vertical development and evolution of Tang poetry. Thus, the first four chapters will focus horizontally on examining and analyzing the creative characteristics of poets in the same period, while the fifth chapter will explore the vertical progression of Tang poetry's development. By intertwining these horizontal and vertical perspectives, we will gain a three-dimensional view of the evolution of Tang poetry. This approach may provide a clearer understanding.
