Features: The collation and publication work of this volume, "Case Records" from the series "Archives of the Batavia Chinese Guild Hall (Batu Gong Tang)," were included in the international cooperative research project under the inter-university exchange program of Xiamen University, China, starting from the year 2000. The original archival records in this book date from June 8, 1832, to August 1, 1834, and from October 20, 1843, to June 7, 1844, covering ten years of affairs of the Batavia Chinese Guild Hall (Batu Gong Tang). The main text of the original records was written in traditional Chinese calligraphy styles such as regular script, semi-cursive script, running script, and cursive script, interspersed with archaic characters, variant characters, vernacular characters, and simplified characters in use at the time. In this collation, the text has been standardized to modern simplified Chinese characters. In the original archives, all years were recorded using Suzhou numerals, while months and days were recorded in Chinese characters. In this collation, all dates have been standardized to Arabic numerals. In the original archives, monetary amounts, quantities of items, and numbers of people were often recorded using both large and small Chinese numerals or Suzhou numerals. In this collation, all monetary, measurement, and numerical data that could include decimals (i.e., non-integers) or numbers above hundreds have been converted to Arabic numerals. For data with multiple levels of measurement units, all have been converted to Arabic numerals in this collation.
