Features: This book introduces the fundamental theories and application methods of digital design, while also covering digital analysis to ensure completeness, with a focus on digital design. Compared to traditional digital circuit textbooks, this book not only presents the basic theories and classic content of digital circuits but also emphasizes the application of medium and large-scale digital integrated circuits, digital system design, and electronic design automation (EDA). Additionally, it includes two bold innovations: distributing the content of programmable logic devices throughout the chapters on combinational logic circuits and sequential logic circuits; and integrating the VHDL language and its applications throughout the entire book. Not only is the content novel and the structure and approach innovative, but it also disperses mathematical difficulties, making it more convenient for teaching. Particularly in the section on digital system design, it offers both MSI-based design methods and PLD-based design methods, presenting a fresh perspective. The book is divided into 7 chapters, including Digital Logic Fundamentals, Analysis and Design of Combinational Logic Circuits, Sequential Logic Fundamentals, Analysis and Design of Synchronous Sequential Circuits, Digital System Design, Electronic Design Automation, and Digital-to-Analog and Analog-to-Digital Conversion with Pulse Generation Circuits. Each chapter is accompanied by numerous examples, exercises, and self-assessment questions, with reference answers to the self-assessment questions provided at the end of the book. All VHDL source programs in the textbook have been tested and debugged using MAXPlusII or QuartusII. This book can serve as a foundational textbook for electrical and electronic majors such as electronics, information, radar, communication, measurement and control, computer science, power systems, and automation, as well as for non-electrical majors like mechatronics. It is also suitable as a learning and reference book for engineering professionals in related fields. The recommended teaching hours for this book are 80 hours.
