Features: This book is the result of substantial revisions based on the author's doctoral dissertation and the national social science research project she led. She worked on this book for five years in total. If we count from when she first started thinking about this issue, it has probably been over six years. Before pursuing her doctoral degree, Zhu Zhiping spent a long time discussing with me the relationship between traditional Chinese language research and teaching Chinese as a second language. On this issue, we reached a consensus, which helped define the general scope of her doctoral dissertation topic. Later, when she applied for the national social science research project, she further reflected on this. This book adopts the principle of integrating form, sound, and meaning in traditional Chinese linguistics, while also drawing on theories and methods from foreign linguistics, applied linguistics, and cognitive linguistics. It utilizes computer databases to store and organize attribute relationships. In terms of methodology, it employs multi-attribute measurement, with reasonably set attributes and diligent database generation, also innovating in research methods.
