Features: Designing software user interfaces requires comprehensive consideration of usability design, artistic design, and technical implementation, which is a highly challenging task. Unfortunately, user interface design has always been a weak link in domestic software enterprises. Most software developers lack the knowledge of how to design user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing interfaces, resulting in software that often fails to meet the satisfaction of a broad user base. Amidst complaints and criticism, developers are forced to frequently revise the software, significantly increasing development and testing costs. Despite the abundance of books on software development technology in China, practical books on software user interface design are indeed scarce. I have always hoped that outstanding software designers in the industry could write books based on their practical design methods (rather than empty theories) to share with their peers, which would be highly meaningful for the software industry. Dr. Lin Rui is a renowned domestic expert in software engineering and R&D management consulting, skilled at analyzing problems faced by software enterprises and proposing solutions. This book, "Web Software User Interface Design Guide," offers valuable guidance for user interface design in domestic software enterprises. I personally invited Dr. Lin to provide user interface design consulting for Yahoo China.

Although China has many technically skilled and intelligent software engineers, many of the software products developed are both difficult to use and unattractive, leading to customer dissatisfaction and frequent revisions of user interfaces, resulting in significant productivity waste. Due to their education primarily focusing on science and technology, students are often unaware of how to design user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing interfaces, and many have never even considered the issue. When they graduate and begin participating in software product development, they are forced to rely on personal experience and intuition to design interfaces, which often fail to gain acceptance from the general user base. How to enable software developers to create user-friendly and visually appealing applications is a headache for most corporate leaders.
Chapter 1 of this book analyzes the user interface design problems faced by domestic enterprises and provides suggestions for solutions. Chapter 2 discusses the 10 design elements of user interfaces, offering clear and easy-to-understand explanations. Designing and implementing Web software user interfaces is far more complex than developing traditional Windows applications. Chapters 3 through 8 respectively elaborate on: general rules for interface elements, the structure of Web software main interfaces, table pages, dialog pages, message boxes, and reviewing and testing user interfaces.
The primary readers of this book are R&D supervisors, project managers, user interface designers, and software developers in IT enterprises, as well as college graduates to IT enterprises. This book can also serve as a teaching reference for software engineering programs.
