Features: This atlas includes 404 commonly used traditional Chinese medicines, comprising 342 plant medicines, 35 animal medicines, and 25 mineral medicines. It features 553 color images of medicinal materials and prepared herbs, with over 430 images of medicinal materials and 120 images of prepared herbs. The selection criteria for common varieties are as follows: (1) clinically commonly used traditional Chinese medicine varieties nationwide; (2) commonly used traditional Chinese medicines listed in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia (1990 Edition, Volume I); (3) varieties used in the Textbook of Traditional Chinese Medicine for higher and secondary institutions of traditional Chinese medicine nationwide. The medicinal materials and prepared herbs were carefully selected and compiled, with the editors striving for typicality, strict review, and strong scientific accuracy in the selection of samples. The images were taken with the requirement of clear features and realistic colors, ensuring that the images of medicinal materials and prepared herbs accurately reflect the appearance of the actual specimens. To facilitate the use of this atlas by readers, each variety is accompanied by concise textual descriptions, with images and text complementing each other for a clear and straightforward understanding, achieving the goal of simplicity. Therefore, this atlas is characterized by three principles: practicality, simplicity, and high quality.
