The "New Ideas Specific Skills Textbooks" are specifically written for the "National Public English Test System (PETS)" by the PETS Research Team. The entire series consists of 20 volumes, providing specific training and guidance in listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills for candidates at PETS Levels 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5. This series of textbooks has the following four features:
Innovative – The entire series follows a student-centered teaching philosophy, combining the linguistic communication principles of the PETS exam to improve candidates' communication skills through training. This series breaks away from the traditional model of emphasizing language structure and focuses particularly on the practicality of language communication. Its innovation lies in the unity of language communication functions and candidates' communication needs, specifically: speaking communication functions meet candidates' oral communication needs, writing techniques meet candidates' written expression needs, and reading and listening comprehension methods meet candidates' information acquisition needs.
Authoritative – Members of the PETS Research Team are very familiar with all aspects of the PETS exam syllabus, including question setting and scoring, and have conducted specialized research. Therefore, the entire series is closely aligned with the syllabus of each level of the PETS exam, accurately grasping the principles and requirements of language skills specified in the syllabus. The main compilers have all studied abroad and have a deep understanding of foreign language teaching and testing. They are responsible for the design and compilation of language skills at each level, ensuring the authority of the textbooks.
Applicable – This series of textbooks is compiled to meet the special needs of PETS candidates, considering the characteristics of self-study. It not only teaches knowledge but also covers skill expansion exercises, vocabulary annotations, and exercises with answers. Except for the speaking section, which is designed for two-person group training, the listening, reading, and writing sections are aimed at individual candidates. Therefore, the explanations and exercises in each volume are tailored to the specific needs of the target readers.
Engaging – The textbooks use humorous stories, comic strips, games, and interesting anecdotes in English as materials as much as possible, making them lively, visually appealing, and educational. This effectively stimulates readers' interest in learning and improves learning outcomes.
