Features: The Ministry of Education's Higher Education Department promulgated the "Basic Requirements for English Curriculum in Higher Vocational and Specialized Education (Trial)" in 2000 (hereinafter referred to as "Basic Requirements"), achieving the three-way coordination of teaching in higher vocational, specialized college, and adult education programs. To meet the urgent needs of students in these three categories for learning English and taking the "College English Application Ability Test," we wrote and published this book, "English Vocabulary for Higher Vocational and Specialized Colleges." The vocabulary and definitions selected in this book are determined based on the 3,400 words in the vocabulary list of the "Basic Requirements." According to the vocabulary list of the "Basic Requirements," we have marked the A-level and B-level vocabulary to facilitate students' learning and self-checking of their word mastery. To help students memorize vocabulary, we have provided phonetic transcriptions for each word and listed the prescribed definitions in Chinese. Additionally, to address common issues students face with word usage, we have included typical practical example sentences and expressions to help students master word collocations and English expressions. Furthermore, to tackle the difficulties students encounter when learning English vocabulary, we have added synonyms, usage tips, and word derivation sections to help students delve deeper into learning and mastering English vocabulary, thereby expanding their vocabulary. At the back of the book, appendices are compiled with an "Irregular Verbs List," "Common Prefixes and Suffixes," and "Common Abbreviations" for easy reference.
