Features: Since the 1970s, in response to the challenges and demands of the new era, Western countries have launched an administrative reform movement marked by New Public Management as a symbolic banner. This reform movement originated in the West and gradually spread across the world, forming a powerful wave of administrative reform. This New Public Management-inspired administrative reform movement is renowned for its advocacy of comprehensive reform and reinvention of the public sector based on flexible market mechanisms, adopting the theories, techniques, and methods of business managementism. It has become a new trend in public sector management, particularly in government management. In this wave of New Public Management reforms, administrative reforms in various countries reflect a unity of commonality and uniqueness. The commonality lies in the fact that reforms in all countries share a fundamental orientation: adopting the theories, methods, and techniques of business management, introducing market competition mechanisms, and pursuing a "managerialism" or "New Public Management" agenda characterized by improving the level and quality of public management and public services. The uniqueness lies in the fact that reforms in each country, in the process of aligning with their respective national conditions, reflect their specific reform characteristics. Therefore, it is significant to compare the commonality and uniqueness of reforms in different countries. At the same time, this New Public Management reform has provided a new perspective for public sector management and reform, offering a effect for reforms in other countries. How to comprehensively evaluate this reform movement and how to learn from its experience are of obvious importance to China's administrative reform, which seeks to enhance government management capabilities through reform. For this reason, the purpose of this book is, on the one hand, to compare the international New Public Management movement and conduct a relatively comprehensive analysis of the New Public Management administrative reform movement, and on the other hand, to analyze the lessons and insights for China from New Public Management-oriented administrative reforms. Based on the above reasons, the title of this book is "Administrative Reform Under the Perspective of New Public Management." This book consists of four parts and nine chapters.
