Features: This book can be used as a textbook for listening and speaking practice, as well as for self-study by learners with a certain foundation in German to improve their listening and speaking skills in German. The book adopts the new German orthography and is accompanied by audio cassettes. The compilers have selected 12 units of content based on the roles German learners play in their daily lives in Germany, including common scenarios in daily life such as food, clothing, shelter, and transportation. The book also includes scenarios related to working, progressing from simple to complex. Each unit consists of listening exercises, speaking exercises, and a vocabulary list. The book includes answers to listening exercises and transcripts of the listening texts. Given that German learners in Germany primarily use communication to meet their practical life needs, the listening texts in each unit follow the principle of increasing difficulty, typically short dialogues, with the rest being short narrative passages. Most listening texts are accompanied by corresponding images, allowing German learners to guess the content of the listening texts based on the images, thereby practicing relevant vocabulary and activating background knowledge before listening, enabling targeted listening. The listening exercises are diverse, including question-and-answer formats, multiple-choice questions, and table-filling exercises, to achieve the goals of general listening, selective listening, and intensive listening. The speaking exercises follow the sequence of words - common sentence patterns - situational dialogues. The design of situational dialogues progresses from closed, mechanical repetition to semi-open, and finally to open-ended speaking exercises, enabling German learners to solidly train their oral skills. The vocabulary section omits basic vocabulary, as it is assumed that the users of this book already possess a certain vocabulary base. The purpose of this book is to simulate real-life language application scenarios, integrating listening and speaking practice.
