Features: The greatest difference between the nutrition and diet of adolescents and adults lies in the fact that the supply of energy and nutrients must meet both basic physiological needs and the needs of growth and development, including both physical and intellectual growth. On the other hand, numerous studies have shown that many chronic diseases common in adults, such as obesity and diabetes, often "set the foundation" during adolescence; in other words, the prevention of various chronic diseases should start from adolescence. Additionally, adolescence is a critical period for the formation of dietary patterns and habits. Many examples demonstrate that waiting until middle age to correct poor dietary habits often yields poor results and requires twice the effort for half the reward; however, receiving health education and cultivating a reasonable dietary pattern during adolescence often brings lifelong benefits. Based on the above three points, this book systematically introduces the basic content of adolescent nutrition from various perspectives, including fundamental nutrition knowledge, dietary patterns of adolescents, standards for energy and nutrient supply, dietary requirements during special periods (such as exam periods, menstrual periods, etc.). We hope and believe that this book will provide a valuable reference for the healthy growth of adolescents.
