Features: Cell biology is an important foundational course in medical education, with a very broad scope of research. In recent years, cell biology has developed rapidly, with new theories, concepts, and terminology constantly emerging, as well as new research methods and techniques. However, due to the limited class hours in medical specialty education, students find it difficult to learn all the foundational knowledge, theories, and recent advancements within a limited time. To adapt to the evolving needs and to support specialty learning and teaching, there was a desire to compile a textbook that is both in depth and content suitable for medical specialty education.
For this purpose, teachers from relevant disciplines at Capital Medical University, based on the foundation of students and the inherent characteristics of the discipline, combined with their years of experience in teaching specialty students, compiled this book. The primary readers of this book are specialty students in medical schools, but it can also serve as a reference for undergraduate medical students. The contributors to this book are experienced teachers who have participated in cell biology teaching for specialty and undergraduate students for many years, possessing rich teaching experience and insights.
In terms of content, the book emphasizes both systematicity and scientific rigor while strengthening the foundational theoretical knowledge of cell biology. It aims to present the material in a gradual and progressive manner, from simple to complex. The book focuses on describing the structure and function of eukaryotic cells and pays special attention to linking these concepts to medical realities. In some key chapters, the book incorporates recent advancements in cell biology, particularly in areas that have become research hotspots in recent years, such as cell proliferation regulation, cell differentiation mechanisms, cell aging, and cell apoptosis. The book is also enriched with numerous illustrations to better assist students in learning and comprehension.
