Features: Compared to the more elegant and lighter French Suites, the richness, breadth, varied temperament, and some technically demanding sounds in these suites are distinctive characteristics of Bach's musical language in his youth. Therefore, their composition date may be earlier than the French Dances, likely before Bach served as Kapellmeister in K?then, which would be before 1722. The original manuscripts of these suites have not been preserved; we only have copies left by Bach's students.
