University Physics General Textbook Problem Solutions

Features: This "Problem Solutions" book provides detailed solutions to all the problems in the original four volumes. The solutions are written by the authors of the textbook themselves, often incorporating insightful extensions and timely guidance to better reflect the teaching intent and requirements of the original book. This book offers comprehensive solutions to all the problems in the original "General Physics Textbook," including 181 problems in "Mechanics," 137 problems in "Thermodynamics," 123 problems in "Electromagnetism," and 100 problems in "Optics·Modern Physics." The existing companion textbook to "General Physics Textbook," titled "Problem Guide," adopts a discussion-based approach to guide students toward a deeper understanding and flexible application of fundamental physics theories and scientific methods. Its structure includes content summaries, basic requirements, review questions, typical examples, and reference examples for each chapter. It is not designed to provide solutions to every problem in the original book but is more suitable for students' review and summary or for teachers to organize problem-solving discussions. Since the "General Physics Textbook" was published in 2001, we have received numerous calls and letters from readers asking when the solutions would be released. Peking University Press then invited the authors of the original book to write this "Problem Solutions" book.
