Features: After the IELTS High Score series, edited by the Langdao Training Center and published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press, was launched, it was well-received and highly praised by a broad readership, especially IELTS test-takers. On the other hand, some IELTS students also provided valuable feedback on using the series and pointed out certain shortcomings. In light of this, in the fall of 2004, the Langdao IELTS editorial team worked together to comprehensively revise and update the IELTS High Score series (edition). Not only were many new IELTS test questions added, but the overall style was also made closer to the actual IELTS exam.
First, IELTS High Score: Listening. We removed some rarely-occurring listening scenarios from the original book and added numerous frequently-appearing "high-frequency listening scenarios" in recent IELTS exams. Correspondingly, we deleted some unsuitable or obscure words or phrases in the listening scenario vocabulary and supplemented them with the newly-compiled high-frequency listening scenario vocabulary by the IELTS teaching department. Additionally, to enhance IELTS test-takers' overall grasp of the listening exam, we added two entirely new IELTS listening practice tests, many of which reflect the trends of recent IELTS listening exams.
Next, IELTS High Score: Reading. This book is the most significantly revised in the series, almost undergoing a "rebirth." We replaced the original Chapters 1 and 2 with Chapter 1: IELTS Reading Question Types and Skills Explained. This section introduces nine possible IELTS reading question types through an engaging reading passage and provides detailed analysis of the solving methods and techniques for each type. Subsequently, we replaced the original Chapters 3 and 4 with Chapter 2: IELTS Reading Key Question Types Specialized Training. This section is divided into five subsections, providing examples and selecting a large number of typical IELTS reading passages to accompany them for the five most common IELTS reading question types.
