Features: International law is a relatively ancient discipline within the field of law, with extensive content. This textbook was compiled in accordance with the training objectives for undergraduate law students and the requirements of the National Judicial Examination syllabus. It focuses on explaining the fundamental principles of international law and the concepts, principles, rules, and systems of major branches of international law, while also emphasizing connections with domestic and international practices of international law. The book is divided into thirteen chapters, with the first six chapters primarily covering the fundamental principles of international law, and the last seven chapters discussing some of the main branches of international legal systems.
Chapter 1 elaborates on the basic theoretical issues of international law, such as its characteristics, nature, sources, codification, and its relationship with domestic law.
Chapter 2 discusses the formation and development of international law principles and provides an overview of the major principles.
Chapter 3 analyzes the international legal personality of states, peoples seeking independence, and international organizations, as well as the international legal personality of individuals.
Chapter 4 focuses on the elements and types of states, their fundamental rights and obligations, sovereign immunity, and the recognition and succession of states and governments.
Chapter 5 explains the general characteristics of international organizations and international organization law, with a focus on the legal system of the United Nations, as well as an introduction to specialized international organizations and regional international organizations.
Chapter 6 is on international responsibility law, covering the responsibility for international wrongful acts, responsibility for acts not prohibited by international law, and international criminal responsibility.
Chapter 7 discusses the composition of state territory, international space law, and the legal issues of outer space.
Chapter 8 is on the law of the sea, focusing on the legal status of territorial seas, contiguous zones, exclusive economic zones, the high seas, the area of the international seabed, and marine environmental protection.
Chapter 9 focuses on individuals in international law, covering the legal status of foreigners and refugees, extradition and asylum systems, and international human rights law.
Chapter 10 is on the law of diplomatic relations, which not only explains traditional diplomatic and consular relations law but also analyzes the external relations of international organizations and their legal issues.
Chapter 11 is on the law of treaties, involving major legal issues such as the conclusion, entry into force, compliance, application, interpretation, revision, invalidity, and termination of treaties.
Chapter 12 discusses the basic content of the law of war and armed conflict, analyzing in detail related neutralization systems, international humanitarian law, and war crimes and their responsibilities.
Chapter 13 is on the law of international dispute settlement, explaining the characteristics of international disputes, political settlement methods, and legal settlement methods, with a special analysis of the role and status of international organizations in international dispute resolution.
