Cangshan Pavilion Collection: Volume Four of the Complete Works of Qian Chengzhi · Anhui Ancient Books Series, Issue 3

Author: Qian Chengzhi
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 2004-12-01
Features: The 24 volumes of Zangshan Ge Ji compiled here are based on the Longtan Shi edition published in the 34th year of the Guangxu reign (1908), including 14 volumes of Zangshan Ge Shi Cun (Poetry Collection), 6 volumes of Zangshan Ge Wen Cun (Prose Collection), and 4 volumes of Tianjian Chi Du (Letters Collection). The original Zangshan Ge Ji was self-edited by the author Qian Chengzhi, consisting of 20 volumes with poetry followed by prose, uniformly organized into volumes, without letters. This collection was long circulated in manuscript form, known as Zangshan Ge Cun Cao (Manuscript Collection of Zangshan Ge), with most of the works composed during the author's early years and the Southern Ming regime, ending in late 1651 when the author returned to his hometown. The collection also includes a small number of works composed after his return, deeply involved in the history of Nanyang and expressing profound sorrow for the loss of the nation. This demonstrates that the original Zangshan Ge Ji differs significantly from the later compiled Tianjian Shi Wen Ji in terms of chronological scope and content nature. The 4 volumes of letters are the author's late correspondence manuscripts, not included in the reading collection or collected in time. They were originally preserved in manuscript form and later compiled together with the poetry and prose collections by Longtan Shi when publishing Zangshan Ge, organized into separate volumes.
