Features: The Cisco Networking Academy (CNA) is a training program launched by Cisco Systems globally, primarily aimed at junior network engineering technicians. Its training content is similar to that of the CCNA. This book is the lower part of the supporting written curriculum for the Cisco Networking Academy. It mainly includes the following content: problems that may occur in local area networks (LANs) and their solutions, an overview of VLANs and inter-switching, the entire process of LAN design, how to connect multiple networks using routers, standard and extended access control lists (ACLs), the operation and configuration of the Novell IPX protocol, various protocols and technologies used in wide area networks (WANs), an overview of WAN design methods, the basic components, processes, and operations of PPP communication, as well as PPP configuration and verification, the services, standards, components, operations, and configuration of ISDN, and the services, standards, components, and operations of Frame Relay. Review questions are provided at the end of each chapter. The book uses the Washington Project as a practical case study to help readers understand and apply the knowledge they have learned, which runs throughout the book. During the process of this project, there is also an engineer's diary. Appendix A provides answers to the review questions at the end of each chapter; Appendix B describes and defines commands related to the configuration and use of Cisco routers; Appendix C is a glossary, detailing the specialized terms and abbreviations used in the book related to networking.
