Features: Hubei Fine Arts Publishing House began planning to edit this series of books over two years ago. They believed it was an interesting idea, but due to my and the artists included in the series being very serious, coupled with a bit of incurable procrastination (mostly on my part), the series has only now been published. The series is positioned as case studies, aiming to distinguish itself from "common cases," as well as from the numerous individual art albums or purely theoretical research books currently available. It seeks to delve deeply into the vivid and rich personal backgrounds and states of the artists included, exploring the connections between their past experiences and the formation of their later creative perspectives, making it easier for readers to grasp and study their artistic qualities, styles, and works. Of course, within these case studies, the illustrations and texts will also reflect the transformation process of Chinese art in the last decade of the 20th century amid the winds of the times, allowing readers to feel, to some extent, the lively scene of the late 20th century composed of numerous events, figures, and creations. Chinese art critics have always moved forward hand in hand with artists. Their cultural sense of mission and research interests have given them a profound understanding of the overall trajectory and individual behaviors of contemporary Chinese art. This series also showcases some of their achievements in case studies. Therefore, such case studies are worthwhile whether for the present or the future, and I believe they will be of great help to dedicated researchers or learners of painting. The above few sentences are more like an afterword than a preface. Hubei Fine Arts Publishing House began planning to edit this series of books over two years ago.
