The creation of Chinese new poetry and the exploration of poetic theory have gone through a long and winding path. In recent decades, the search has looked to the former Soviet Union, finding only models and formulas; it has also looked to the West, discovering that only by horizontally understanding cultural and national roots and advancing positive poetic convergence can vitality be achieved. Moving further, it has shifted from the original collision between Chinese and Western poetics to the cultural context of the relationship between "local" and "global."
