Vocabulary is the cornerstone of language learning. Traditionally, students' methods of memorizing words are not only monotonous and boring but also extremely inefficient, as many words require immense effort to memorize yet remain confusing when used. In light of this, we wanted to offer a new method of vocabulary learning. By linking seemingly unrelated words with humorous and witty stories, we have developed a vocabulary learning approach: we first provide a story, followed by a vocabulary list, making the process not only simple and convenient but also enjoyable.
Theoretically, memorizing stories is easier than memorizing words because stories have a certain developmental thread, making associations more abundant. This is precisely the theoretical foundation for our series of story-based vocabulary learning materials. During the creation of these stories, we have found that originally dull words can become lively and endearing, and traditionally dull learning can become vivid and interesting. This reminds us of the story of Columbus conquering the world: cracking an egg and standing it on a table. It turns out that there are no insurmountable challenges in the world—only whether we can find the key to overcome them. Story-based vocabulary learning is just such a key prepared for everyone to conquer the challenges of vocabulary.
