Features:
1. Ear training includes two main components: harmonic ear training, which focuses on vertical hearing, and melodic dictation training, which focuses on horizontal hearing. This textbook follows these two components as its primary learning framework.
2. In ear training, written exercises and oral exercises (such as singing by ear, singing melodies, and sight-singing) must be closely integrated and mutually reinforcing. Due to space constraints and to make the content more concise, this textbook primarily focuses on written exercises. It should be noted that harmonic ear training should be combined with extensive exercises in singing and constructing individual intervals, chords, and chord progressions, as well as the analysis of actual musical works. Similarly, melodic dictation training should be combined with exercises in rhythm reading, constructing scale tones, memorizing and singing melodies, and transposition singing, and must be closely linked with sight-singing of the same difficulty level. The combination of listening, writing, singing, and rhythm reading is the fundamental method for learning ear training.
3. In addition to basic exercises, the textbook also includes preparatory exercises, such as "Contrast Exercises," "Selection Exercises," and "Dictation Segments." There are also exercises designed to "expand auditory skills," such as "Texture and Chord Progression Exercises," "Dictation with Simple Accompaniment," and "Follow-up Exercises." In learning, it is important to distinguish between levels and proceed step by step according to the cognitive process. Depending on the situation, certain types of exercises can be supplemented and reinforced.
4. The development of this textbook considers both teaching by instructors and self-study by students. It aims to provide teachers engaged in ear training with comprehensive teaching content and systematic methods, while also serving as an important supplementary textbook for students at music conservatories learning ear training. For the majority of amateur students preparing for exams, this textbook will help them undergo standardized, professional training, thereby comprehensively improving their ear training skills.
