Features: The National Professional and Technical Personnel English Title Examination is a national foreign language test organized and implemented by the National Personnel Department. According to the "National Professional and Technical Personnel English Title Examination Syllabus" published by the Professional and Technical Personnel Management Department of the National Personnel Department in 2005, the examination is divided into three professional categories: General, Science and Technology, and Medical. Each category is further divided into three levels: A, B, and C. The examination for each category and level consists of six types of questions. In the writing process, we followed the following five principles:
1. The principle of combining detailed guidance with authentic simulation questions. The first half of each guide book provides a general description of the exam requirements and an introduction and detailed guidance for each question type. When compiling the "Answering Tips" section of the guide book, we paid attention to in-depth analysis of common linguistic phenomena and common difficulties encountered by Chinese learners of English from the perspectives of linguistics and language education theory. This enables candidates not only to understand how to answer questions but also to understand why certain answers are correct.
3. The principle of high-quality material selection. In the selection of materials, we paid special attention to breadth of topics and natural language expression. Therefore, all textual materials cover a wide range of subjects, are concise and fluent, and rich in knowledge. In the design of simulation questions, we also ensured that they closely align with the new syllabus requirements and were carefully selected in accordance with the new syllabus.
4. The principle of detailed explanation. We provided detailed answers for all questions in the simulation questions, explaining the reasoning behind each answer choice, while also introducing necessary vocabulary, grammar, discourse cohesion, cultural background, and other relevant knowledge. This allows candidates to enrich their comprehensive English knowledge and achieve the effect of learning from examples.
5. The principle of full translation. We provided reference translations for all content in the simulation questions in the detailed answers, and all translations were repeatedly reviewed to ensure accuracy. These high-quality translations play a positive role in helping candidates deeply and correctly understand the original text.
