Features: The 2nd Urban Rail Transit Young and Middle-aged Experts Forum and the 16th Underground Railway Academic Exchange were grandly held in Shanghai. The theme of this conference was "Sustainable Development of Urban Rail Transit in China." This grand event launched the 2nd Young and Middle-aged Papers Collection. A total of 150 papers were submitted, and after review and selection by the evaluation committee of the Association, the Urban Construction Institute, and Beijing Jiaotong University, 125 papers were accepted, amounting to approximately 1 million words. Compared to previous editions, there has been significant growth in the number of papers, their quality, and the fields covered. Among them: 19 papers on the research of urban rail transit construction, development, and management; 36 papers on urban rail transit and comprehensive transportation planning and design; 18 papers on new construction technologies for urban rail transit; 31 papers on equipment technology and localization of urban rail transit; 15 papers on operation and management models of urban rail transit; and 6 papers on safety, risk, economics, and other aspects of urban rail transit. The papers reflect the current technical level of the industry, combining the refinement of experience with in-depth discussions. They particularly address the hot issues of urban rail transit construction and operation, proposing ideas such as the networking of urban rail transit construction plans and the sharing of resources; the comprehensive planning concept of leveraging urban rail transit construction to drive and guide urban development through integrated transportation hubs; summarizing practical experiences in the localization of urban rail transit vehicles, the comprehensive automation of systems, and new models of urban rail transit systems; and multiple colleagues exploring methods for the management and control of urban rail transit safety and risk from different perspectives. Many new ideas, technologies, and methods were proposed.
