Normal X-ray variation patterns: Seventh Edition

Features: Normal variants are a lifelong topic for radiologists, and their expertise is often reflected in their comprehensive understanding of such conditions. The classification and description of normal variants shown on X-rays are not merely an academic interest, as an understanding of the "abnormal" requires a thorough grasp of the "normal." Variations are inextricably linked to normal anatomy. Moreover, as pathological evidence, a significant misdiagnosis of normal variants can be more serious than overlooking them, potentially leading to unnecessary or even harmful treatments. The scope of this atlas is limited to normal variants observed in traditional X-rays, with a focus on illustrative materials and concise text. To control the size of this book, I carefully considered which sections could be appropriately omitted. I removed variations confirmed by bronchography, as this technique is no longer practical, but a few other obsolete techniques are included in this book. Additionally, I must regretfully remind my dear readers that with the advent of CT, routine radiological examinations of the head are rapidly becoming a dying art. It may be omitted or condensed in future editions. However, I have retained it for now, as this technique remains a first-line examination method in areas lacking advanced equipment.
