Features: Since the publication of the Central Conservatory of Music Examination Textbooks for Piano (Domestic and Overseas) in 1993, they have been widely welcomed and recognized across various regions in China and some overseas areas. Their emergence aligns with the trend of the widespread and rapid development of piano education, providing systematic and standardized teaching materials for thousands of people eager to learn the piano. Through this series, they have been exposed to outstanding Chinese and Western piano cultures, receiving standardized professional music education and training. A significant number of them have already become or are currently becoming forces for professional piano talent. This excellent teaching material has played a significant and irreplaceable role in enhancing the quality of music education for young people. However, with the deeper popularization of piano education and societal progress, both we and the teachers and students participating in amateur piano exams have gradually felt the shortcomings and limitations of this teaching material. Imagine using the same fixed exam textbooks unchanged for five years—this in itself fosters student dependency. In fact, this one-level-four-pieces model has already led to some problems. Now, our experts have newly compiled the "Piano (Amateur) Examination Coursebook." This new teaching material was born on the foundation of summarizing and further improving the old one, changing the previous practice of dividing pieces into two sets (A and B) and adopting a classification system with different series to expand the range of pieces, thus giving teachers and students more choices. Among them, we have also retained some excellent pieces that have been proven to be highly valuable in teaching practice over the past few years. Combined with the newly selected materials, they will help enhance the flexibility, diversity, and of piano learning. The use of this teaching material will contribute to broadening students' knowledge and improving their adaptability. With the birth of the new teaching material, the methods of piano exams will undergo some changes in the future. We will announce the exam pieces and requirements at an appropriate time before the exam. Of course, we will still allow candidates ample time for practice, but it will no longer be the "ten years early" approach. It is evident that the birth of this new teaching material marks a milestone in the overall improvement of exam standards in our country.
