Features: In recent years, the Party and the government have placed great importance on water-saving agriculture. The 5th Plenary Session of the 15th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China explicitly proposed the establishment of a water-saving society and the development of water-saving agriculture. Leaders of the Central Committee and the State Council have issued multiple important directives on water-saving agriculture, clearly stating that China's water-saving agriculture and water-saving irrigation must take its own path. The issue of agricultural water conservation is closely linked to agricultural technology, seeds, cultivation conditions, and systems. The agricultural sector must take practical measures and feel obligated to address this issue. To further advance the development of water-saving agriculture, the Development Planning Department of the Ministry of Agriculture organized experts from institutions such as the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, China Agricultural University, and the National Agricultural Extension and Technical Service Center to conduct a series of thematic studies on the current situation and tasks of water-saving agriculture in China's new era, as well as the theoretical and practical issues in its development. They compiled the "National Water-Saving Agriculture Development Plan" and the "Western China Water-Saving Agriculture Development Plan," and summarized and selected the experiences and advanced models of water-saving agricultural production practices actively carried out by agricultural departments at all levels over the years. The research findings, plans, and typical experiences of relevant departments have now been compiled into this book for reference by all concerned parties.
