Features: To overcome and escape the software crisis, people hope to bring software development into an engineering track through engineering methods and management techniques, which gave rise to Software Engineering. Software Engineering is an engineering discipline that guides the development and maintenance of computer software, with the aim of improving the quality and efficiency of software production. After more than thirty years of development, Software Engineering has gradually matured and has become an important discipline in the field of computer science and technology.
Purpose of Writing: The software industry has recognized the importance of Software Engineering in influencing software quality and production efficiency. Software Engineering has become a discipline that software-related professionals must master. For students in higher vocational colleges or university associate degree programs, they may not have experienced enough hardships in actual software development, have a limited understanding of the software crisis, and may not be interested in the theory of Software Engineering. However, they will be the main producers in the future software production process and direct influencers of software quality. It is essential for them to grasp the basic theories and common methods, tools of Software Engineering, and understand the software development process. This requires a textbook that downplays theory and emphasizes practicality. This book was written to meet this need.
Main Content: This book is divided into four parts. The first part introduces the general overview of Software Engineering; the second part introduces the core workflows in the software development process, including project feasibility study, software requirements analysis, system design, system implementation, and software testing, as well as the technical methods and tools used to complete these tasks, along with specific work guidance. The third part covers software development process management, where UML is introduced as a tool needed in the software development process, with a focus on its specific application in object-oriented software engineering. The fourth part provides examples of specific document specifications and cases in software production and management.
Features of This Book: The language is concise, accurate, and easy to understand; it downplays theoretical explanations while emphasizing practical guidance; it combines the theory and concepts of Software Engineering with specific development examples for explanation; it focuses on how to apply Software Engineering theory to guide actual software development work, explaining what should be done at each stage. This book not only helps readers gain a deeper understanding of Software Engineering theory but also helps them learn how to use Software Engineering principles and methods to guide actual software development work.
The content of this textbook is arranged in the order of the concepts of Software Engineering, the software development process, and the management of the software development process, mainly including eight chapters: Concepts of Software Engineering, Unified Software Development Process (RUP) and Unified Modeling Language (UML), Management and Improvement of Software Processes, Project Feasibility Analysis and Software Requirements Analysis, System Analysis and Design, System Implementation, Software Testing, Software Configuration Management and Maintenance, and Software Project Management. Each chapter introduces relevant content in a concise manner through case studies. Generally, exercises follow the explanations to help readers further master the related knowledge points. "Comprehensive Practical Training" primarily trains the ability to connect the theory in this book with practical problems. The sections of this textbook are well-organized, with content that is both interconnected and relatively independent, allowing readers to choose according to their needs. This book is systematic and highly practical, making it suitable as a textbook for Software Engineering courses in higher vocational colleges or university associate degree programs. It is also suitable for software engineering professionals engaged in software development and beginners in UML for self-study and reference.
