Features: Building on the foundation of the beginner level, this course further teaches vocabulary and grammar suitable for the HSK () levels 1-6. The curriculum primarily enhances students' Chinese communicative abilities through listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Reading comprehension, listening, and speaking are the key teaching focuses of this stage.
Main Content of Each Lesson:
(1) Text: The first book includes dialogues and texts on the same topic, while the second book features a longer narrative text per lesson. The texts are provided in simplified Chinese with English translations.
(2) Grammar: Covers multiple usages of the particle "," complement sentences, fractions and percentages, the "" sentence structure, passive sentences, comparative and adjective reduplication, etc.
(3) Specific Scenarios: Includes everyday settings such as campus, hospital, gymnasium, shops, reception desks, office buildings, restaurants, and hotels.
(4) Communicative Functions: Includes inquiries, expressions of gratitude, interviews, suggestions, discussions, and debates.
(5) Text Exercises: Tests comprehension of the lesson's content.
(6) Vocabulary: Each lesson requires mastery of 20-50 new words.
(7) Grammar Notes: Explains the structure of the lesson's grammar.
(8) Grammar Exercises: Designed based on the lesson's grammar, including fill-in-the-blanks, rearranging word order, forming words, and sentence construction.
(9) Speaking Exercises: Includes imitation, substitution, selection, collocation of words, phrases, and sentences.
(10) Reading: Each lesson includes 1-2 reading materials paired with the text, provided with Pinyin and English translations (vocabulary is listed separately). Each reading passage is accompanied by exercises, including multiple-choice and open-ended questions.
Upon completing the intermediate level, students will master 1,200-1,400 words and phrases and 2,500-3,000 Chinese characters. The design of the intermediate exercises and comprehensive tests also references the Chinese exam requirements of the U.S. STA-II, enabling students to prepare for the U.S. SAT-II Chinese (Foreign Language) exam.
