Features: Physiology is a branch of biological science that studies the fundamental life activities of organisms, the functions of their various components, and the physical and chemical basis of these functions. For medical students, the physiology course is a very important foundational subject. Medical students must learn and master physiology before they can further study physiology, pharmacology, and clinical medicine. The target audience of this textbook is primarily medical students in the seven-year clinical medicine program. The content of the textbook goes deeper than that of a general five-year program and includes some more recent knowledge. The entire book is divided into 12 chapters: Introduction, Basic Functions of Cells, Blood, Circulation of Blood, Respiration, Digestion and Absorption, Energy Metabolism and Body Temperature, Formation and Excretion of Urine, Functions of Sensory Organs, Functions of the Nervous System, Endocrinology and Reproduction. The total length of the book is about one-third longer than that of a general five-year program. The content of each chapter describes the various functions of the body from the levels of cells and molecules as well as organs, enabling students to understand the normal processes of cellular activity in the organs that make up each system of the human body, the internal mechanisms of the functions of organs and cells, and especially the interactions and interrelationships between different cells, organs, and systems. It also helps students understand that the functions of the human body as a whole are coordinated and regulated, allowing it to maintain normal life activities and the stability of various physiological processes in a complex and changing environment. In addition to introducing physiological knowledge, this book also provides some introductions to the experimental design and technical methods for important or typical physiological knowledge. The purpose is to enable students not only to know the specific content of physiological knowledge but also to understand how this knowledge is obtained, and to cultivate innovative spirit and innovative thinking skills.
