Features: Materials are markers of a civilization's progress. The development of human civilization is a process of learning to utilize materials and creating and innovating with them. People strive to achieve better material properties and functions to meet human needs. Materials are generally defined as substances used to create useful components, devices, or objects. They can be classified by composition, structure, performance, and application.
By composition, materials can be divided into metals, inorganic non-metallic materials, organic polymer materials, and composite materials. By structure, they can be categorized as crystalline materials and non-crystalline materials. By performance, they can be classified as structural materials and functional materials. By application, they include electronic materials, building materials, aerospace materials, biomaterials, energy materials, and medical materials. By origin, they are divided into natural materials and artificial materials.
The topic of material design involves studying the physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of materials, familiarizing oneself with their applications, understanding their characteristics, learning to select and use the most appropriate materials, and combining them to form aesthetic preferences. In the future, this will enhance our design quality in design art learning and creation, thereby improving our quality of life.
