Bibliography and Book Reviews

Author: Meng Zhaojin
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2004-01-01
Features: With the vast amount of information going digital, traditional books face challenges. The exploration of modern lifestyles has also dimmed the traditional forms of cultural reception. Books, once the dominant cultural products, now stand somewhat precarious under the impact of modern commodities. However, those who believe in them will continue to believe. Regardless of how humans use high-tech devices to live, paper books will still play a significant role in human culture. The editing and publication of this series aim to hold a pole and raise a flag in the noisy tide of the secular world—to give a shout for the glorious history of paper books, to commemorate the great talents who made their mark in the world of paper books, and to comfort those who continue to immerse themselves in paper books and will continue to do so. Naturally, publishing giants like Sanlian Bookstore have made similar efforts before. We hope to join all fellow enthusiasts in preserving our spiritual homeland—the world of books, simple yet ancient, resilient yet noble, forever filled with the scent of ink. This series is meticulously edited and modestly designed, truly embodying harmony between form and content, making it rare among its kind. This book is a discussion by scholar Meng Zhaojin on bibliographies and book reviews, as well as an appropriate outline of the history of book reviews and book reviewers since modern times. Although the book may not seem systematic, every word reflects careful scholarship and prudence. If one is a gentleman of books and has leisure to read this, they will surely be moved by the thoughtful efforts of book lovers throughout history. Moreover, the various insights on bibliographies and book reviews presented in the book are as rich as fine wine, capable of enriching one's wisdom.
