Publishing Date: 2004-12-01
Features: The recent revision and promulgation of the "Teaching Syllabus for English Majors in Higher Education" by the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education has added a course on English Practical Writing and listed it as an elective for lower-year English majors. This fully demonstrates the necessity of offering this course for cultivating composite applied foreign language talents. However, there are currently no textbooks written in English on this subject. Therefore, we have compiled this book, "English Practical Writing." The book systematically explains the linguistic characteristics, writing techniques, stylistic forms, expressive methods, and writing norms of English practical writing. The entire book is divided into 10 parts: Linguistic Features of English Practical Writing, Basic Knowledge of Letters, Writing and Examples of Various Types of Letters, Secretarial Work, External Publicity, Legal Documents, Academic Paper Writing, Personal Dossiers, English Notes, and Punctuation, all accompanied by sample texts. It combines systematicity, knowledge, practicality, and operability, making it suitable as a textbook for English major undergraduates, junior college students, and self-study examinees. It can also serve as a reference book for a wide range of foreign-related workers, English enthusiasts, intermediate English readers, and candidates for postgraduate entrance examinations.
