Features: The family Papilionidae belongs to the order Lepidoptera and the superfamily Papilionoidea. This monograph comprehensively corrects and systematically summarizes 19 genera and 167 species and subspecies of swallowtail butterflies, as well as 2 genera and 120 species and subspecies of silk moths in China, through the dissection of the male and female external genitalia of all known species in the country. Comparative studies on the structure of the genitalia, venation, and external morphology have been conducted to correct some erroneous identifications, clarify certain taxonomic ambiguities, and elevate and merge some species. The book includes a systematic key to the families of butterflies, a key to the subfamilies, tribes, and genera of the Papilionidae, as well as a species key for each genus (compiled based on external morphology and male external genitalia). It also features 163 illustrations and 356 images, including venation and branching diagrams, anatomical illustrations of the male and female external genitalia, and morphological characteristics of the larval stage. Additionally, there are 8 color plates with 86 images of adult butterflies.
