Features: This textbook is suitable for undergraduate four-year programs in chemical engineering, mining, geology, metallurgy, electrical engineering, management, industrial engineering, textiles, and other non-mechanical, non-construction disciplines with similar teaching requirements. The content primarily includes four parts: Descriptive Geometry, Basic Drafting, Mechanical Drafting, and Basic Computer Graphics. Additionally, it provides an introduction to development drawings and welding drawings. In practical teaching, the content can be selected based on different disciplines and the number of teaching hours. As a technical foundation course for engineering majors in higher education, the writing of "Descriptive Geometry and Engineering Drafting" has always been a focus of the Teaching Guidance Committee for Engineering Drafting Courses in Higher Education and a broad group of graphics education professionals.
This textbook is tailored to the characteristics of non-mechanical disciplines, with its fundamental theories, knowledge, and skills designed to be sufficient rather than excessive. It adopts a "concise explanation with extensive practice" approach. In terms of content organization, the book starts by recognizing the laws of objective phenomena, progresses from the projection analysis of abstract geometric elements to the expression methods of composite bodies and mechanical parts, and gradually cultivates and enhances students' spatial concepts while improving their ability to analyze and solve spatial problems.
In line with modern computer graphics requirements, the textbook emphasizes the widely applicable AutoCAD software to train students in using computers to create engineering drawings. The textbook is accompanied by a workbook for post-class exercises. The appendix of this book compiles commonly used national standards, including threads and threaded fasteners, keys and pins, rolling bearings, tolerances and fits, commonly used metallic and non-metallic materials, and commonly used heat treatment and surface treatment terms.
