Scottish castle

Author: Montgomery-Masonberd

Publish Date: 2004-12-01
Features: This book introduces 25 imposing and legendary estates among the many outstanding castles in Scotland. In a strict sense, castles are the residences of aristocratic families, so the book not only describes the architectural styles of these estates but also focuses on the prominent Scottish clans in history as the main subjects. A considerable amount of text is dedicated to introducing the legendary, even bloody family stories of these estates' clans. It can be said that these castles reflect the evolution and transformation of Scottish architecture over several centuries and are also a loose chronicle of Scotland. What's important is that the numerous, exquisite original photographs listed in the book better convey the spirit and essence of the estates than the text. For readers who love culture, history, travel, and architecture, this book about Scottish castles is truly a feast for the eyes and the spirit.
