Features: With the increasing popularity of postgraduate entrance exams, English has become the main focus of candidates. However, the difficulty of English preparation can be painful and even despair-inducing. Is English truly so mysterious and unattainable? Where is the breakthrough to learn English well and achieve high scores? Based on my nearly ten years of experience in tutoring for postgraduate entrance exams, I can confidently say: Conquering English is not difficult—the key lies in mastering vocabulary. To help students correct their attitude towards vocabulary learning and improve their methods in a shorter time, thereby fundamentally solving the challenges of vocabulary learning, the author has, after years of teaching practice and dedicated research, summarized a simple yet effective vocabulary learning method——“Four-Link Memory Method.” The editor has strictly selected 1,676 entries, with usage examples striving for classic and practical, and translations aiming for accuracy and fluency. The Chinese proverb says, "Four Links and Eight Methods," where "linking" and "reaching" are mutually causal: Linking leads to reaching, and not linking means not reaching; reaching implies linking, and not reaching implies not linking. Words memorized but not used or scoring points are mainly due to not linking. Once true linking is achieved, all problems will be resolved. So, what are the "Four Links" in vocabulary learning?
1. Linking the pronunciation of words.
2. Linking the meaning of words.
3. Linking the usage of words.
4. Linking the relationships between words.
This book is based on the theoretical foundation of the "Four-Link Memory Method" and selects words according to the newly released "Postgraduate English Entrance Exam Syllabus," strictly filtering out 1,895 core entries, plus derivatives, synonyms, antonyms, and phrases, fully covering the vocabulary requirements of the postgraduate English exam. Some overly simple words and highly specialized terms have been appropriately removed, while some commonly used related words and meanings have been added. Usage examples strive for classic and practical, and translations aim for accuracy and fluency. The purpose of this book is: theory as the foundation, vocabulary as the core, solid basics as the foundation, and passing the exam as the goal.
