Features: This book is an important supplementary resource for the study and teaching of Western art history. It includes 1,300 paintings, representing significant works from the primitive period to the 20th century in Western art history. These works reflect the artistic characteristics and styles of various painting schools, trends, and artists from different periods and countries in the West. The book features an introductory essay at the beginning, as well as overviews of the development of painting in each period, along with detailed information about the authors, dates, materials, dimensions, and locations of the works. Based on reading professional literature, readers can not only appreciate the fine paintings of Western art history in a concrete manner but also understand and appreciate the relevant background knowledge of different works. The accompanying CD-ROM converts the black-and-white images of each painting in the book into color images and also introduces simple methods for creating teaching presentations. This will greatly benefit both teachers and students in teaching and appreciation.
