Features: The narrative angle of the story is highly tension-filled: the painter Anle, who pursues sexual love but despises marriage, is relentlesslyed by Baihe. Like the durian fruit that symbolizes the theme, lovers flock to marriage, while those who hate it avoid it at all costs. The contradiction lies here, and so does the tension. The novel's narrative pen flits between Anle's evasive figure and Baihe's steps, swirling and circling. The story tells of a tale about escaping marriage. The painter Anle refuses marriage; he is only willing to indulge in art and sex, and is always ready to flee when faced with someone he deeply loves. Baihe, on the other hand, is a lover of love above all else. She commits suicide for Anle, survives, and continues to him relentlessly. To escape Baihe, Anle comes to Beijing and meets the Tibetan girl Dunzhu, sparking a romantic flame. Once, after getting drunk, Baihe runs to Anle's home in a daze, uses a key she has stolen to unlock the door, and hides in Anle's studio until he returns home with Dunzhu. In a state of heightened passion, she suddenly appears before them, stunning the unsuspecting Dunzhu. Baihe herself is completely sobered, lifts a hot water bottle, and pours a pot of boiling water over her own head. Anle, again trying to escape his conscience, is involved in a car accident and loses his legs forever. After many twists and turns, Baihe reappears in Anle's life. The latter part of the novel: "Lele, can I come over and eat durian with you?" Baihe asks Anle after he loses his legs. "No, don't come over." "You're not inviting me to eat durian? Not inviting me?" "No." "How can you not invite me to eat durian?" "We're over, it's over." Anle hangs up after saying this. Baihe stands before Anle and says, "I'm here, I'm here to eat durian with you." Baihe says. "Lele, I'm here," Baihe says again. But Baihe is already crying uncontrollably. She suddenly crouches down, her handbag falling to the side, something rolling out of it. She embraces Anle tightly, embracing him tightly. "Lele, I'm here to eat durian with you," Baihe's voice. "Lele, I'm here to eat durian with you," Baihe's voice. "I don't want to," Anle's voice. "I don't want to," Anle's voice. But the two are tightly embracing each other, tightly embracing each other. Baihe hears Anle's crying for the first time. Anle bites his clothes hard with his teeth, trying not to cry, but he still cries out.
