His name is Mowgli, given by his wolf mother. Since the day he stumbled into the wolf den, he became one of them and also a thorn in Shere Khan the tiger's eye. Under the training of his wolf father and two masters—Balu the brown bear and Bagheera the black panther—Mowgli gradually grew into a little warrior of the jungle. But one day, after being manipulated by Shere Khan, Mowgli left the jungle in tears and entered human society.
However, life in the human world was not kind. Everyone, except for Mother Martha, treated him as a devil who practiced sorcery. In reality, it was all a lie spread by hunters, only because he exposed their lies. On the very day he successfully ambushed Shere Khan the tiger, he was cruelly driven out of the human village but was allowed to return to the jungle, where he became the leader of the wolf pack. He forgave those loathsome humans, but the humans had no intention of sparing him. Following the faint traces, they entered the jungle to hunt him down.
The author of The Jungle Book, Rudyard Kipling, was born in Mumbai, India, in 1965. He returned to England for his childhood education and, at the age of 17, returned to India to work as a journalist for a local newspaper. His journalistic career was arduous but provided material for his future literary creations. He is known as the master of British short stories and is also called the "poet of imperialism." In 1907, he won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
The newly released Phonetic Color Illustration Edition of World Literature Classics is a series of books meticulously drawn and compiled, especially dedicated to young readers.
