Features: Selected Ensemble and Solo Pieces for Chinese Traditional Music is a series of books, currently featuring three volumes. The first volume is an album of traditional pieces, the second volume is an album of original or adapted light music, and the third volume is an album of foreign music. Each volume contains ten pieces, including world music ensembles, small ensembles, and solo pieces. In the future, additional volumes will be published as needed. This volume is the third in the Selected Ensemble and Solo Pieces for Chinese Traditional Music series—Foreign Music Album. It includes ten pieces by six composers: Gu Guoren, Zhou Chenglong, Zhou Zhongkang, Ma Shenglong, Peng Zhengyuan, Xu Guoping, and Qu Chunquan. Some of these pieces are ensemble suites, which can be performed as individual pieces when separated. Therefore, this book actually contains fifteen pieces from twelve countries. Some are easy to learn, while others are rich in content and challenging to perform. All pieces are representative and practical. To facilitate adoption by various Chinese music ensembles, two types of ensemble combinations and two types of solo combinations have been selected.
