Features: At the time of the publication of this "" series, as editors, we have much to say to our readers. As the saying goes, "mathematics is the gymnastics of the mind" and "the game of the intelligent." Without a doubt, various mathematical competitions—ranging from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) to regional events—have nurtured countless students and teachers. The role of extracurricular mathematical activities in inspiring interest in learning mathematics and improving problem-solving skills is not optional but essential in China's basic education. It is precisely for this reason that, over the past few decades, mathematical extracurricular activities, including mathematical competitions, have been widely welcomed and supported by students, teachers, and parents. It is well known that the problems in these competitions are mostly created by experts and experienced teachers who specialize in the field. Therefore, in terms of the quality of the problems, whether in terms of depth or flexibility in solving them, they far exceed the exercises that students do on a daily basis.
With the purpose of "selecting the best from the best," "generalizing from one example to many," and "making it both searchable and solvable," we have thoroughly processed the selected problems, striving to make this book both "practical" and "sufficiently comprehensive." In addition to carefully selecting the problems, we provide as many practical solutions as possible for typical problems to help readers broaden their thinking. For more challenging problems, we provide original solutions, starting from the point of entry, to clarify the source of the reasoning and thereby achieve the effect of "generalizing from one example to many." We place particular emphasis on teaching readers correct thinking methods rather than inundating them with advanced concepts, enabling them to truly improve. Most of the editors of this book are young, some of whom are newly employed young teachers, while the majority are postgraduate students at Tsinghua University, Peking University, or the Chinese Academy of Sciences. However, there is one thing we believe readers can trust: almost all of us have been trained in major olympiad competitions since childhood (we include winners of primary school olympiads, the "I Love Mathematics" summer camps, the Hua Luogeng Gold Cup, the Hope Cup, the Spring Festival Cup, the Junior High School Mathematics League, the High School Mathematics League, and even the IMO gold medalists). Today, we stand on the olympiad lecture platform, combining our personal experiences to engage in various olympiad training.
