Features: Edward Grieg was born on June 15, 1843, in Bergen, Norway. His father was a British businessman and a knowledgeable scholar, who had once served as the British consul in Bergen. His mother was a highly accomplished piano teacher with a deep musical background and was Grieg's musical mentor. Grieg lived through the era of heightened Norwegian national independence movements, and from an early age, he developed a strong sense of national identity, determined to promote Norwegian music. His works, apart from church music, covered almost all instrumental and vocal genres. Among his representative works, in addition to the "Piano Concerto in A Minor" and the orchestral suite "Peer Gynt" (1874-1875), this "Lyric Piano Collection" (1864-1901) is also one of Grieg's most iconic compositions. The "Lyric Piano Collection" consists of 10 volumes with 66 short pieces. The collection embodies both emotion and imagination, skillfully employing folk tunes and refining them through meticulous artistic craftsmanship to vividly depict the picturesque landscapes of Norway and the rustic, unrestrained folk life. It presents a series of lively scenes before the audience. Here, there are passionate Norwegian dances, as well as fantastical realms that vividly portray the trolls, dwarfs, and fairies from folk tales; there are imitations of the pentatonic sound of folk violinists in the western fjord regions of Norway, as well as the pastoral songs of mountain herdsmen. With bold and delicate brushstrokes, the collection is rich in content and diverse in imagery, leaving one in awe!
