Features: Produce the required products in the needed quantity when needed (JIT). When the market shifts from a seller's market to a buyer's market, production methods also evolve from single-variety mass production to multi-variety small-batch production. Lean production is a method created in practice, aiming to produce high-quality goods with low consumption under multi-variety small-batch production conditions. The core of lean production is to pursue a production system with zero inventory or one with the minimum possible inventory. Any work that does not add value is waste. Therefore, transportation and changeover time that do not add value are waste and must be reduced. If production creates products that are not currently needed to improve equipment utilization, the loss caused by these excess products is even greater. To enable a production line to achieve high flexibility suitable for lean production, the first step should be to focus on improving operational levels. If it is said that "flexible production can be achieved, but equipment costs also increase," it is almost meaningless. The idea of eliminating waste in lean production and the principle of "saying is as good as doing" are broadly applicable to almost all factories. Facing market challenges, we have no choice but to comprehensively improve the management level of enterprises. Since 1889, the United States has maintained an average annual growth rate of nearly 2.5% in productivity over more than 100 years. This growth has doubled the United States' wealth every 30 years. In this annual 2.5% growth, the contribution of improved labor quality is 0.5%, the contribution of heavy capital investment is 0.4%, and the contribution of management innovation is 1.6%, accounting for 64% of the total productivity growth! Management is a technology, and it is currently the most lacking technology in our country. Lean production is a production management technology. Based on the authors' extensive practical experience in lean production, this book is written in an easy-to-understand, easy-to-learn, and easy-to-use "language" for frontline managers, enabling you to gain a comprehensive understanding of the new generation of production methods in a short period.
