Features: The Urban Traffic Flow Guidance System (UTFGS) is a core research area of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and its theoretical foundation is also the basic theory of ITS. UTFGS primarily achieves dynamic allocation of motor vehicle flows, real-time guidance, and scientific management, thereby improving the service level of urban road networks. This work summarizes the author's recent scientific research achievements. Many of the theories, models, and methods proposed in the book represent new findings in the theoretical research of Intelligent Transportation Systems. The main contents of the book include: the emergence and development of Intelligent Transportation Systems, the structural framework of China's Intelligent Transportation Systems, the main research areas of Urban Traffic Flow Guidance Systems; the development and current research status of UTFGS domestically and internationally, the architecture of UTFGS; information services in Urban Traffic Flow Guidance Systems; theoretical models and methods of UTFGS; the application of geographic information technology, positioning technology, and communication technology in UTFGS; map-matching patterns in Urban Traffic Flow Guidance Systems; and the introduction of the TC-B algorithm for path optimization in UTFGS. The book proposes path guidance techniques for UTFGS, explores human-machine interface design methods for UTFGS, and discusses the software and hardware design principles and approaches for UTFGS. It also elaborates on simulation methods for traffic flow guidance systems and conducts macro and micro evaluations of UTFGS. This work can serve as a reference for undergraduate students in Transportation Engineering, as well as for master's and doctoral students in Traffic Information Engineering and Control, Transportation Planning and Management, and Vehicle Operation Engineering.
